This type of game is the one that completely captures you, "it's really intense."

Have you heard of "claustrophobia"? Some people feel fear and anxiety when entering small, enclosed spaces, like an elevator.

But as beings of exceptional creativity and resilience, there are those who prefer to repeatedly explore the limits of human instinctive fear. Did you know there exists a paraphilia known as "claustrophilia", where being locked in a dark box is extremely pleasurable?

⚠ This article does not promote or encourage any practice, but sincerely hopes to help readers identify the nature and risks of such behavior.

During my childhood, I was fascinated by small and hidden spaces, whether it was a cardboard box from a washing machine or a miniature tent made with pillows and sheets. I wanted to get inside.

Taking a nap in a "black hole" where adults couldn't enter was a privilege for my little body, free from interruptions, and it was immense happiness.

The famous science fiction writer Isaac Asimov also mentioned in his autobiography his liking for small and enclosed spaces. His childhood dream was to have a metal newsstand in a New York subway station, lock himself in there, and read while listening to the roar of the train.

Over time, my fondness for "getting into dog holes" and "hiding in tents" gradually faded.

But for some fetishists, the fondness for being tightly wrapped and placed in small spaces has been permanently preserved.

Feeling excited about being confined in a closed space is also a paraphilia, known as Claustrophilia ("claustrophilia").

The most known case of "claustrophilia" to readers might be the male protagonist in the short story "The Human Chair" by Japanese writer Edogawa Ranpo.

The protagonist is an ugly and insignificant chair craftsman.

The original text goes like this:

“The client asked me to make a large leather armchair... When the chair was finished, I felt an unprecedented satisfaction. I sat deeply in the chair, caressing the rounded arms, submerged in pleasure. My old mania resurfaced, and in a constant flow of colorful fantasies, a devilish and tremendously scandalous idea emerged in my mind, seducing me with an irresistible force.

I dismantled one of the chairs, reconditioned it, and carried out my sinister plan. The chair was quite large, with a base that served as support instead of legs, covered on the outside with leather. The back and arms were also very thick, and the internal spaces of their components were connected, so that even if someone hid inside, it would not be visible from the outside. Then, I modified the interior of the chair so that the seat part could accommodate the legs and the back part the head and torso; simply adopting the shape of the chair, one could hide inside.

After completing it, I stripped down to just a shirt, then opened the entrance lid on the bottom of the chair and got inside. The feeling was truly strange; everything was dark, almost suffocating, like entering a tomb. As I crawled inside the chair, it was as if I put on a cloak of invisibility, disappearing from this world.

Throughout the day, clients of all kinds sat on my knees without realizing I was inside the chair. A dark and restrictive world of leather, creating a charming and attractive realm. And I became a wonderful creature, capable of identifying each person only with the touch of my

skin.”

The craftsman hid in the chair, thrilled to be pressed by one person after another sitting in the chair, only separated by a layer of leather.

This passage beautifully portrays the thrill of being enclosed.

However, looking at it from both sides, apart from claustrophilia, the fact that the craftsman invaded others' knowledge and privacy to spy is quite serious, enough to provoke a chilling physiological discomfort, so "The Human Chair" has been adapted many times not as an erotic film, but as manga and horror drama.

Indeed, claustrophilia is a paraphilia that carries with it extreme risk and controversy.

Why can confinement provoke sexual arousal sensations?

This pleasure may originate in the thrill provided by the extreme sense of restriction found in discipline, bondage, and obedience.

As a way of restricting freedom, being confined and tied are related, and what punishment can be more severe than "being locked up"? Claustrophilia is a spatial game where the sensation of oppression from the confined space and the fatalism of not being able to escape interact intensely with the body, greatly amplifying body awareness and making it more intense.

What fetishists seek is to play a game of contrasts of "what others fear, I desire". Finding pleasure in resistance, in the extreme pull, is where the fun lies; the more restricted and more tied, the more intense the pleasure.

Claustrophilia is a real paraphilia, but there's a world of difference between fantasizing about it and practicing it.

For example, at a fantasy level, talking dirty, reading small fantasy stories, and enjoying internally is no problem.

But it definitely should not be attempted at a practical level. Along with breath control, it is known as one of the "Kings of Death" —do not play with it, an accident could be fatal.

The purpose of disclosing about claustrophilia is to help people recognize this potential fantasy, be aware of its existence and risks, and develop a sense of respect, knowing what limits should not be crossed. Many tragedies come from ignorance and recklessness; if one tries to "challenge the limits" secretly thinking they are very capable, any misstep could be deadly.

In 2010 there was big news in the UK: an elite MI6 agent died under mysterious circumstances, his body was found inside a suitcase, and the causes of his death were much discussed.

Upon investigation, it was known he was a hardcore fetishist, with a large amount of female clothing and wigs in his room, and previously enjoyed playing bondage games with his landlady.
The most likely cause of his death was —he had claustrophilia, tried to lock himself in a suitcase for the thrill of being confined, but couldn't get out and suffocated to death.

The biggest problem with claustrophilia is the ease with which accidents can occur. If the dominant is negligent and does not pay attention, if there is no fresh air, or if you accidentally lock yourself in, there really is no escape and death can occur quickly.

As an elite agent, this way of dying is really a cruel joke. But even a special agent cannot handle this extreme test, so better not play with your life.
